After 27 years of marriage and two children, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee have divorced.
They announced their divorce in a joint statement to People Magazine, emphasizing that they are embracing their own growth.
The statement read:
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
The couple’s divorce stunned Hollywood, since they had been married for 27 years.
When asked about the breakup by TMZ paparazzi who had approached him, the actor courteously shook them off, asking them to respect their privacy, while describing the situation as a very sensitive one.
The actor and his ex wife stated that their priority is their family, as they have two children together, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives” she added.
The Australian pair met on the set of the Australian TV series Corelli in 1995.
They married in 1996 and adopted their kid after several failed IVF attempts and a miscarriage.
They also welcomed their daughter into the world in 2005.
The news of Jackman and Deborra-Lee’s separation has crushed the hearts of many, because they had always been honest about their marriage and appeared to be happy.
