- Amidst the prevailing chaos and the rationale behind the police dispersal of Mohbad’s sympathizers through the use of tear gas at Lekki Toll Gate, footage has surfaced depicting a moment when police officers appealed to the protesters prior to the smoky confrontation.
- Police urged protesters to disperse after the candlelight procession, emphasizing that their genuine love for Mohbad should deter them from gathering late at night to prevent potential hijacking by hoodlums
Protesters and devoted fans of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, faced tear gas dispersal at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State, on Thursday night.
These supporters had organized a candlelight procession to pay tribute to the late singer. Dressed in white T-shirts, they danced to his music, showing their final respects.
The procession concluded early at Muri Okunola Park, with notable celebrities like Davido and Falz in attendance. However, some chose to gather at Lekki Toll Gate.
In the midst of this uncertainty, videos emerged of police officers at the location late at night, urging and warning the peaceful attendees to disperse and return home to prevent potential infiltration by troublemakers.

Subsequently, it was reported that tear gas was used by the police Tearto disperse the peaceful gathering when attendees failed to adhere to their instructions and warnings.
Mohbad’s death last Tuesday raised concerns, as an accusing finger was pointed at the Marlian Record Label’s owner Afeez Fashola professionally known as Naira Marley.
Also, there have been allegations and counter-allegations from his distant relatives over his estate in the early days of his demise.
Both Nigeria police and Lagos police command vowed to probe his death, as the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also asked that the Department of State Service (DSS) to join in the investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the conclusion of an autopsy on the remains of the late singer, Mohbad.
