Popular ‘Tinsel’ Actor Charles Grandsville is dead

Nollywood has sadly bid farewell to a versatile artist of boundless talents—an actor, songwriter, musician, and filmmaker. His demise will leave a void that will be deeply felt by both colleagues and devoted fans alike


The renowned Nigerian actor and accomplished movie producer, Charles Granville, has regrettably passed away.

According to popular blog,  Linda Ikeji, Granville, who also served as the Chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Arts and Entertainment, succumbed to a lingering illness on Thursday, September 21st.

Prior to his untimely demise, this versatile artist was a true polymath, boasting a multitude of talents that encompassed acting, songwriting, musicianship, and filmmaking.

Among his impressive body of work, one can find notable contributions to films such as ‘Last Flight To Abuja,’ ‘Impossible Relationships,’ ‘Dowry Man,’ and an eagerly anticipated upcoming release titled ‘Locked’

In related news, Okechukwu Okereke, the husband of the late Nollywood actress, Cynthia Okereke,  has cried out over the suffering and struggle his family is facing to raise funds for the funeral ceremony of his late wife.

The late Cynthia Okereke was abducted last year alongside actor Clemson Cornel Nonyelu, popularly known as ‘Agbogidi’, by unknown gunmen while they were filming in Enugu.

However, the veteran actress died on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, after a brief illness.

Okereke, who lamented the failure of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria to assist his family, told Vanguard in a telephone chat that he was the only person planning his wife’s burial rites with assistance from his son, stating that he was in dire need of financial assistance to give his wife a befitting burial rites.

Revealing that his wife died as a result of the shock she sustained following her kidnap experience last year, Okereke said since her abduction and release, she had been in and out of the hospital before her untimely demise last month.
