- The online world has been abuzz due to a recent interview in which the father of reality TV sensation Phyna shared a shocking account of how his daughter distanced herself from him and their family.
- He revealed that the BBNaija star vanished from their lives shortly after receiving her prize money.
Felix Otabor, the father of BBNaija star Phyna, is crying foul, alleging that the winner of the 2022 BBNaija ‘Level Up’ edition has left them high and dry, neglected them after pocketing a cool N100 million.
Mr Otabor, in an interview with Vanguard, lamented that he hasn’t laid eyes on his daughter since her triumph in the BBNaija ‘Level Up’ edition last year. He expressed bewilderment, stating that she hasn’t graced their home since, and ignoring their calls, leaving him in the dark about the reasons behind her stance.
Phyna’s father shared that he plied his trade as a seasoned hearse driver (Somebody who transports the deceased person from the funeral home or mortuary to the final resting place) and when she clinched the reality TV crown, she urged him to part ways with his old cars, promising to transform his life.
He recalled a phone conversation with her, during which she expressed that God had bestowed blessings upon them. She advised him to dispose of his old cars.
According to Mr Otabor, to prevent her from giving away his vehicles, he decided to sell them as scrap and used the proceeds for home renovations. Unfortunately, this decision marked the start of his hardships.
He disclosed that life had become increasingly challenging for him since then because he had no car again, and he was actively seeking someone who could provide him with a car through a hire purchase arrangement. He expressed his need for assistance, emphasizing that he had reached a point where he didn’t want to suffer in silence.
Otabor said, “I haven’t seen Phyna, my daughter, since she won BBNaija ‘Level Up’ edition last year. She hasn’t returned home since then. I don’t know why. I am a professional hearse driver, and when she won the reality TV show, she asked me to do away with all my old cars, promising to change my life. But since then, I haven’t seen her. And I don’t have a car again. Once in a while, the Vice-Chairman of our association will allow me to drive his own car.
“I sold all my four cars because, at the time, my daughter won the show. I thought that God had finally answered our prayers. I called her on the telephone, and she said God has blessed us. She asked me to do away with all my old cars, or she would give them out to Aboki, any day she returned.
“So, instead of allowing her to dash out my cars to scavengers, I decided to sell them as scraps and used the proceeds to renovate my house. And that was the beginning of my suffering. I stopped doing my business because I had no car again. And my neighbours thought I was either stingy or pretending as if my daughter just won a N100 million grand prize. I was the Vice-Chairman of our association, but when I couldn’t show up at our station for some time, they replaced me with another person.
“From that moment, things started getting tough for me. I am even looking for somebody who will give me a car on hire purchase. I need help, it has come to that point/. I don’t want to die in silence.”
