Kachi Ucheagwu, a former contestant on the Ultimate Love reality TV show, has stirred up controversy by questioning the legitimacy of Ilebaye Odiniya’s victory in the recently concluded BBNaija All Stars edition.

Ilebaye Odiniya, a 22-year-old housemate, emerged as the winner of the Big Brother Naija All Stars edition, taking home the grand prize of N120 million after almost 10 weeks in the Big Brother house.

Kachi Ucheagwu expressed his doubts about the win on the micro-blogging platform, X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that Ilebaye’s victory was driven more by sympathy rather than merit.

He compared her victory to the state of Nigeria on its Independence Day, stating that the prevalence of pity and sympathy over meritocracy was a reflection of the nation’s stunted growth.

“As Nigeria celebrates her Independence, the winner of #BBNaijaAllStar may be a true reflection of the current state of Nigeria where pity and sympathy prevail against meritocracy. Is she deserving of it, only time will tell,” Kachi Ucheagwu wrote.

Ilebaye Odiniya’s victory in the BBNaija All Stars edition had been met with mixed reactions from fans and viewers of the reality show.
