“I’m sorry, you have every right to be angry” – AY apologizes to Davido over sensitive joke, he responds

Stand-up comedians in Nigeria are like a mixed bag of surprises. Their success hinges on delivering side-splitting humor that elevates their reputation, but one ill-conceived and insensitive joke can lead to a barrage of criticism. AY Comedian recently found himself in hot water for venturing into the realm of tasteless humor, specifically targeting Davido's manhood. He felt the burn from the backlash and subsequently extended a sincere apology to the singer

The renowned Nigerian comedian and actor, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has extended a heartfelt apology to the widely acclaimed Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, known as Davido.

This gesture of contrition comes on the heels of a sizzling controversy sparked by a jest AY cracked during a recent comedy show in Warri, Delta State.

AY, in viral video, had stated that he tried having children for years despite the fact that Warri men have ‘huge manhoods’, but it took him years to have two children.

He, however, stated that Davido, who has a ‘little manhood’, fathered several children.

AY reacting to the backlash that followed the joke, apologised to Davido, saying,

“I am so sorry for telling that joke the way it came out in Warri. I shouldn’t even call it a joke anymore. It wasn’t funny like it was during my tour of the US and Canada, and you have every right to be angry after seeing how the blogs used it.

“Please know that it is always a learning experience for all of us in the entertainment business. I deserve any backlash or negative thoughts coming my way for the joke that was badly delivered in Warri. So, no excuses at all, my Aburo (younger brother). No reason am. I remain your number one fan, and I love you, @davido”.

Davido, in response to the apology, simply said with a love emoji, “Nothing spoil baba mi.” through his social media account.
