Singer WizKid touches down Lagos ahead of mum’s burial in October – VIDEO

From the fleeting glimpse of WizKid's expression when he returned to Lagos for his mother's burial, it's evident that he's a man still in the throes of grief, missing a cherished loved one. The preparations are in full swing to lay his dear mum to rest, and the music star has arrived to bid his final farewell, like a lone sailor navigating stormy seas to reach the shore of closure.


In a noteworthy return to his roots, the Nigerian global sensation, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, affectionately referred to as Wizkid, has made his way back to his hometown of Lagos.

He’s back in town to make preparations for his mother’s burial, a significant event scheduled for October 12.

As previously reported by WITHIN NIGERIA, there’s a wake and tribute planned in honor of Wizkid’s mother on the 12th, and the final farewell will unfold the very next day.

A clip that quickly spread like wildfire depicted the moment the Afrobeats sensation graced Lagos with his presence, alongside his trusted entourage, to pay his mother one final visit of respect.

The Ojuelegba crooner was spotted in the company of his vigilant security detail and a close-knit circle of family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Wizkid warmed the hearts of his fans with photos and videos from his first public appearance since his mother’s death.

The Music star is known for the admirable bond he shared with his mother while she was alive. And since the announcement of her demise, the musician has been off the internet and social gatherings.

It tickled the hearts of his fans to see him grace the Victoria and Albert Museum’s VIP opening night preview of “Gabrielle Chanel: Fashion Manifesto”, alongside his senior friend Naomi Campbell.

In the photos, Wizkid wore a knitted black shirt with plain, greasy trousers of the same colour.
