Neo Akpofure revealed that he has always wanted to do this since he was a child

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Neo Akpofure, popularly known as Neo Energy, has taken a generous step towards the betterment of the prisoners in his Warri hometown.

Neo Akpofure made the news after he made a charity donation to prisoners in the his hometown, Warri, Delta state.

The reality TV star, who spent a lot of time in prisons as a child with his warden mother, felt it was important to give back to society while he was in Warri.

He posed in front of the prison with the warden and other staff members in the Instagram photo he uploaded.

Boxes with supplies and amenities for the detainees were in front of them.

Neo also stated that he had a love for helping inmates get back on their feet and that ensuring they were treated humanely was the key motivation behind the creation of his Amakazat Foundation.

He said:

Couldn’t have visited my Warri without visiting the Nigerian Correctional service again. Growing up and living inside the prisons because my mum was a warden, I developed a soft spot for some of these prisoners, especially after listening to some of their stories of how life dealt them a bad hand.”

“This is one of the projects I’m intentional and passionate about. One of the core missions of @amakazat_ foundation founded by yours truly is to ensure that there is hope even behind bars, that prisons and penitentiaries in Nigeria continue to serve the purpose of being correctional facilities and in a bid to achieve that we have decided to make sure that these prisoners live under humane conditions whilst being confined until they’re reintegrated back into society”.

Neo Akpofure received a surge of encouragement for a job well done in the comments section of his post from friends and followers.

Others voiced their concerns over the distribution of the food, highlighting the possibility that the prisoners would not receive it. They were instantly put at ease by Akpofure, who assured them that he had personally distributed the food to them after entering the prison.

“For those saying the inmates won’t get it, I entered the prison & I shared it myself to the prisoners. Thanks for your concern” He stated.
