“It’s my turn” – Rema sends message to Burna Boy as he headlines O2 Arena concert

Before rocking the stage at his long-awaited O2 Arena concert, he took a stroll down memory lane, reminiscing about the goosebumps-inducing moment when Burna Boy handed him the chance to shine on the O2 stage for the first time. With a fire in his belly, he declared it's now his turn to leave his mark on the O2 Arena, following in the footsteps of his seasoned colleagues.

Afrobeats sensation, Divine Ikubor better known as Rema, has given accolades to his senior colleague, Burna Boy ahead of Former’s sold out O2 Arena concert.

Just a couple of orbits around the sun, Burna Boy extended the VIP pass to the ‘Calm Down’ maestro to grace the stage at his own O2 Arena bash in London.

In a fiery tweet just before taking the spotlight at the prestigious arena on November 14, 2023, Rema gave a nod to Burna Boy, recognizing the hefty role he played in his musical journey.

Pouring his heart out, Rema thanked the self-proclaimed African Giant for being a driving force and wished he were present to share the moment.

The singer added that the 02 arena gig was his turn to have and ‘conquer’ his own show at the event centre which is the dream of many rising artistes

Rema wrote;

“Before I get on stage, I want to say a big thank you to @burnaboy for bringing me on stage 2 years ago.

Today it’s my turn to conquer that same stage and I wish you were here to share this moment with me. Regardless, I’m grateful for the motivation. With love, Rema.❤️”

Rema uniquely made his way into the American pop scene this year with his smash hit “Calm Down,” as well as its remix featuring Selena Gomez. Taking home awards from the MTV VMAs, Guinness World Records, and Spotify, the song was one of the most impactful releases in music this year.

However, this was not reflected in the 2024 Grammy nominations. On top of “Calm Down” being fully absent from all categories, Rema was also not able to earn a spot on the Best New Artist list, a tough blow for such an obviously promising artist.
