- The Lagos state police have swiftly nixed the spicy speculation surrounding the release of Mohbad’s autopsy report.
- The press was informed that they currently do not have the report and emphasized that it hasn’t been officially handed over to them.
- On Monday, November 20, the state’s police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, officially confirmed this update to journalists.
The Lagos State Police Command has affirmed that the autopsy report of the late singer Mohbad, whose demise triggered controversy, has not been formally delivered to them.
As of Tuesday, November 21, 2023, it’s been two months since the late Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy.
Mohbad, once under Naira Marley’s record label, passed away in controversial circumstances on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
The Lagos state government mandated a coroner’s inquest into the demise of the 27-year-old singer.
As the autopsy inquiry continues, unresolved questions underscore the necessity for clarity regarding the talented singer’s death.
Despite swirling speculations, the police stress their dedication to relying on verified information rather than rumors.
Updating on the autopsy, the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed to The Punch newspaper on Monday, November 20, that the command had not officially received the report.
Hundeyin said:
“The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”
Hundeyin added that only the singer’s family lawyer can request the release of the autopsy result from the pathologists. Otherwise, it will be provided independently to the police once it’s ready.
This is coming after Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Mohbad, warned that nobody should collect his son’s body for burial without his approval.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that singer Bella Shmurda and actress Tonto Dikeh had called on the Police to release Mohbad’s body for a “befitting burial”, saying his autopsy result was taking time.
However, speaking in a video message shared via his Tiktok page on Sunday, Mohbad’s father warned that nobody should collect the late singer’s body without his authorisation, stressed that he remains his son even in death.
