Why the Police invited Mr Ibu’s sons and daughter Jasmine – Ailing actor’s Ex-Manager, Chochoo

Earlier today, Nigerians were shocked by news of Mr Ibu's wife reportedly arresting his daughter and sons in a dispute over the control of a substantial donation. The movie icon's former manager chimed in, clarifying that they were invited by the police, not arrested, and providing reasons for the invitation. The entire saga saddened fans, witnessing a family clash at a time when unity is crucial for Mr Ibu's recovery

Emeka Chochoo, former manager of actor John Okafor (Mr. Ibu), revealed the reasons behind the police inviting Mr. Ibu’s adopted daughter, Jasmine, and two sons, Daniel and Val.

On Wednesday evening, news emerged that Mr Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris, had reportedly ordered their arrests after weeks of social media disputes regarding who has control over the actor’s account.

Doris Ogala, a Nollywood actress who posted on Instagram, claimed that Jasmine and Mr Ibu’s sons were arrested and held at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos. Allegedly, this was in connection to accusations that Jasmine transferred N300 million donated for the ailing actor from his account.

However, in a recent chat with the PUNCH on Thursday, Emeka Chochoo clarified that the police invitation shouldn’t be seen as an arrest, emphasized that the police had summoned Jasmine, Daniel, and Val to provide information about Mr Ibu’s bank account.

Val was reportedly excluded from the situation as he had recently returned to the country and was unaware of the ongoing developments surrounding Mr Ibu’s account.

‘Yes, they were all invited by the police. I won’t call it arrest; the police invited them over Mr Ibu’s account. However, Val is left out as he knows nothing about what’s been happening. He just returned to the country.

“I have not been able to reach any of them,” Chochoo said.

Mr Ibu recently sought help from the public following a medical emergency.

Recently, Stella Maris and Jasmine put their differences aside as they united to beg Nigerians to donate to Ibu’s medical bills. However, both women began fighting again over money after the donations came in.

The actor, who was confirmed to be gradually healing following multiple surgeries, also recently had one of his legs amputated.
