- In a heartfelt disclosure, Tony conveyed that Amaechi has been steadfastly managing his diabetes over the years, with the financial responsibilities of his treatment admirably shouldered by his family, fans, and other benevolent supporters.
Following Nollywood veterann Amaechi Muonagor’s appeal to well-meaning Nigerians for assistance from his sickbed, his cousin Tony Oneweek has now revealed details of his of his ailment.
In an extensive Facebook post, Oneweek disclosed that his cousin is presently grappling with the trifecta of stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and undergoing weekly dialysis and other treatments at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi.
Oneweek, in a heartfelt revelation, shared a photo from his hospital visit, capturing the actor on his sickbed. He clarified misconceptions about his relationship with Amaechi and expressed that his family had been tirelessly covering Amaechi’s bills for years. However, the recent stroke has compelled them to openly seek help.
According to him, the 61-year-old ailing actor has been graciously supported by donations from his fans, various groups, and compassionate Nigerians who genuinely love and care for him.
Oneweek emphasized that, despite the efforts made so far, his cousin’s complete treatment and recovery still depend on additional funding. He appealed to Nigerians to kindly contribute to support this cause.
He wrote in parts;
“Contrary to most online publications, Amaechi is my first cousin. His father and my father are of the same father. We have had a wonderful relationship as members of the same industry, and I am proud of him as a “brother”.
“Amaechi is so loved worldwide and his fans, friends and ndi Obosi have been wonderful so far. Many groups have been donating money for his hospital bills. As at today, there’s some improvement. His blood sugar is under control but he is still on admission, weekly dialysis, physiotherapy and other treatments.”
