Even Phyno won’t disrespect him – Rapper Illbliss roasts Phenom over negative comment about Mode 9 (VIDEO)

In the lyrical landscape of Nigerian rap, one cannot sing its praises without weaving in the profound contributions of Mode 9. Despite his impactful legacy, his success didn't soar to the heights attained by his younger counterparts, notably Phyno, who skillfully commercialized the craft. Phenom, in a recent interview, extolled Phyno over Mode 9, stoked the flames of anger in Illbliss.

Illbliss, the renowned Indigenous rapper, Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor, has criticized his fellow artist, Phenom, for his recent remarks about Rap veteran, Mode 9.

During a conversation on The Yarns podcast, Phenom expressed his reluctance to follow Mode 9’s path and instead aspired to achieve commercial success comparable to that of Phyno.

The ‘Murder Dem’ crooner shared his experience visiting Phyno’s lavish residence and envisioned a future with Phantom cars gracing his own garage like Phyno’s.

According to him, although he is not trying to talk down on anybody, he believes it is a mental problem for rappers like Mode 9 to be wearing baggy jeans and talking about Hip Hop being a culture.

Phenom said; “I don’t see Mode 9 as someone I want to be like. I would rather be somebody that is commercially successful. I was Phyno’s house few days ago, I wanna have Phantom parked in my house”

In response, Illbliss conveyed his disappointment, stating that even Phyno, his colleague, would not disrespect the pioneers of Hip Hop who paved the way before him.

The rap icon, using his Twitter platform, corrected Phenom by asserting that Modenine is a living legend, highly respected for his significant contributions to the culture of Hip Hop.

He tweeted;

Even Phyno would never disrespect the Hiphop pioneers that came before him, with phantoms parked in his garage.

“Really truly disappointed Phenom. Mode9 is a living legend, alive and well, incredibly decorated and respected for his contributions to Hiphop culture. I hate the disregard!
