OAU student breaks silence on reports of her landing in hospital after over 50-hour wash-a-thon – VIDEO

Enitan, an undergraduate at Obafemi Awolowo University, took a bold leap in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record by engaging in an over 50-hour washing marathon. Videos circulating of her in the hospital, showcasing bruised hands, heightened speculations of her hospitalization. In a recent video, she has stepped forward to address these reports, sparking a flurry of reactions from netizens.


Subair Enitan, the industrious student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) who embarked on a handwashing marathon to set a new Guinness World Record, refuted reports suggesting she “landed” in a hospital.

In a heartfelt video shared across the social media platforms, Enitan extended her appreciation to the school, supporters, and sponsors, emphatically clarifying that she did not end up in the hospital despite the challenges of her wash-a-thon attempt.

Her words;

“First of all, I’m sure you can see I’m very much okay. So to the people trending saying I landed in the hospital. I didn’t land in the hospital and these are my hands. I am better.

“I’ve been in my house with family members, my team members. I’ve been sleeping. I woke up this evening to take pictures. I have been very fine. Just dey play o. Nothing is wrong with me.”

Enitan, a Department of Linguistics and African Languages student, began the attempt on November 24 at the Sub Car Park inside the school campus.

She surpassed her initial plan of 50 hours by washing for 58 hours. The Guinness World Record is yet to confirm Enitan’s record-breaking attempt.

Before the attempt, Eniola had expressed optimism that she would finish strong as the title holder of the longest hand-washing marathon.

It is believed that the student notified the prestigious British reference book of her intentions in June this year.

Enitan joined the growing list of Nigerians who have attempted to set new world records since the beginning of 2023.
