Toke Makinwa, an influential media personality and entrepreneur, recently wrapped up her highly anticipated attendance at COP28, the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference.
According to Toke Makinwa, she completed all of her goals during the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Recall how Toke Makinwa’s 1411-man Nigerian delegation to COP-28 caused a stir, with many criticizing her position in the meeting.
In a recent podcast interview, Toke Makinwa revealed that she began to take the criticism seriously after receiving calls from “important people.”
Toke claimed that one of the main COP28 trends was her backlash.
During her podcast, Actress Ini Edo, her guest on the show, asked:
“How did your attendance of the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai go? Did you get into the conversations from the panels?”
Toke Makinwa replied: “Yes. I accomplished everything I set out to do with it [COP28]. I was just shocked [by the uproar]. And I think because Dubai is three hours [ahead of Nigeria], I woke up to see the backlash on social media.
For me, it started feeling serious when important people started calling me. And I think that for me was funny. I walked into this hotel in Dubia where they were a lot of important people, all of them have seen the backlash and they started calling me ‘item seven’ and it was funny. We all just laughed. It was so funny.”
Recall that Following the backlash, Toke Makinwa threatens to sue Danny Walter over statement.
He said that Nigerian politicians who stole the countries money carried her to the United Arab Emirates for the Climate Change event tagged COP28.
It all started with the argument between Danny and other X (formerly Twitter) users about whether Nigeria would’ve done better if it was still under colonial rule.
A Netizen wrote:
“Justifying colonialism is crazzy. Mind you, they stole from us and controlling us”
In response, Danny tweeted;
“The people in power are not stealing from you? At least white people will steal and build something in return, our own people will steal, carry Toke Makinwa to Dubai and build nothing”.
Reacting, Toke hinted that she may take the matter to court next year and asked i the influencer has proof to back up his claim. She wrote;
“Very Wild. I hope you have enough proof to defend this tweet of yours cos it’ll be a very interesting 2024.”
Danny Walter then dared the TV presenter to follow through with her lawsuit that he was ready for her.
