Nigerian film actress, Abimbola Idowu Thomas has announced the death of her mother.
The Omo Ghetto star announced her mother’s passing in an Instagram post on Friday with the image of a burning candle. Bimbo Thomas captioned the post:
“Rest on mother.”
Fellow celebrities like Mercy Aigbe, Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Kemi Korede, Tawa Ajisefini, Aisha Lawal and Alesh Sanni consoled her in the comment section of the post.
Born and raised on Lagos Island, Lagos State, Bimbo Thomas is the fifth child of her parents.
She studied Mass Communication at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
Bimbo once said her dad was not in support of her joining the movie industry but her mum helped her become an actress. She said in a 2018 interview with PUNCH:
“My dad wasn’t in support of me acting because he wanted me to become a lawyer but he didn’t know that my UTME score wasn’t high enough to qualify for law. I told my mum about my interest in creative acts and acting. So, she spoke to Abbey Lanre and that was how I met other big names in the industry. I was also trained even as an undergraduate.”
In other news, Actress Ngozi Ezeonu has debunked a report about her death.
The 58-year-old left her 1.6 million followers on Instagram worried on Saturday after she posted a photo of a burning candle with the caption: “A rare gem is gone.”
Some media reports subsequently claimed that the actress had died and her son confirmed it.
However, in a video shared via Instagram on Tuesday, the Glamour Girls star revealed that she made the post because she lost a dear friend.
On Wednesday, January 10, Ngozi Ezeonu shared another video on Instagram in which she debunked the death report, saying that she is alive and healthy.
