Two heavyweights in the Yoruba movie scene recently went head-to-head, showcasing their prowess in a captivating exchange of Yoruba proverbs, orchestrated by their colleague Kunle Afod. Yoruba cinema heavyweights, Yinka Quadri and Odunlade Adekola, showcased their profound grasp of Yoruba proverbs in a delightful face-off, putting their native linguistic prowess to the test in a lively exchange.

Kunle Afod, their esteemed colleague, is known for bringing celebrities onto his show, usually in pairs and daring them to go head-to-head in a sprint from 1 to 10, with the first to reach ten claiming a cash reward from .

On his recent show, Kunle Afod extended invitations to Odunlade and Yinka Quadri. The dynamic duo showcased their prowess by artfully sharing the proverbs they could recall.

In his customary comedic style, Odunlade Adekola playfully teased Yinka, taking the lead with humor-laced banter.

As the face-off progressed, Yinka caught up, resulting in a thrilling 8-8 tie. Eventually, Odunlade graciously conceded to the seasoned Thespian.

Kunle Afod declared Yinka Quadri the victor, rewarded him with a 10k prize for both participating and winning.

In other news, Modinatu Aderemi, one of the wives of Olofa Ina, the late Nigerian actor, has revealed how he died.

Olofa Ina passed away on on Thursday, the 5th of January, 2024 and was buried the next day in Osun state. He was 73 years old.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba, Modinatu said the actor had been battling an illness for a while and had received care at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife.

She said he spent three weeks in the hospital but died within 30 minutes of returning home.

“We had been taken care of him, and he was at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife,” she said.

“We were told to bring him home from the hospital on Thursday evening. It was not more than 30 minutes after we got home that he died.”
