Popular Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, well known as Davido has sparked significant interest, he opened up about his upbringing, shedding light on a hitherto lesser-known aspect of his life.
The DMW boss stated that he was unaware of his father’s wealth until he was thirteen.
Speaking about his father and his early years in an exclusive interview, Davido stated:
“All this talk about being rich, my dad is very disciplined. He’s quite different; you can tell he’s a very disciplined man.”
I didn’t know we had money till I was 13. Despite being a billionaire, my dad drove a Honda Accord, I’m telling you.”
He spoke about how he got to find out about his father‘s wealth and said:
“Let me tell you how I found out. Something happened in Nigeria, in the area where we lived. There was a mistake, like a bomb blast, and many houses got destroyed.”
“Our first house, from my birth until around age 11, was a big compound with a bungalow. When that incident occurred, we had to leave immediately because the house got so messed up.”

The artist revealed how his father, a prominent figure in the society, utilized his influential power to penalize him for reneging on a mutual agreement they had made.
The musician disclosed that his father had preferred that he graduate before pursuing a career in music in an interview with American TV anchor Kelly Clarkson.
Davido claimed that because his father was so insistent that he attend school, they had come to an arrangement in which the singer would study for two weeks out of every month and then spend the remaining two weeks pursuing his musical career.
