I will go crazy if I win Grammy” – Davido

Davido says he would be ecstatic if he wins the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Award Ceremony tonight.

Nigerian afrobeats singer, Davido expresses his overwhelming emotions towards the possibility of winning a Grammy Award.

Recall that Davido’s ‘Unavailable‘ featuring Musa Keys is one of five songs nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 66th Grammys.

In an interview with Billboard during the Pre-Grammy show, Davido stated that if he wins the Best African Music Performance award, he will celebrate wildly.

Davido admitted that the prestigious global recognition would undoubtedly push him over the edge, igniting a wildfire of excitement within him.

However, he declared that no matter who wins, he will be glad for Africa.

“I am just happy that we all get to shine. What if there was no [African] category? So, at the end of the day we should all be happy that we have this category, something to call our own. Whoever wins, it’s okay. If I win, we are celebrating. We go crazy,” he said

Davido’s ‘Unavailable‘ will compete against Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Asake’s ‘Amapiano,’ and Tyla’s ‘Water’ for the gramophone.

Davido was also nominated in two additional categories: ‘Timeless‘ for Best Global Music Album and ‘Feel‘ for Best Global Music Performance.

Davido will also compete for the Best Global Music Performance award alongside Burna Boy, Arooj Aftab, Silvana Estrada, Béla Fleck, Falu, and Gaurav Shah.

He would also compete against Burna Boy, Susana Baca, Shakti, and Bokante for Best Global Music Album.

The Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony will take place tonight at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theatre.
