BBNaija reality TV star Tochukwu, popularly known as Tochi, has shed light on why South African musician Tyla secured a Grammy win over other Nigerian artists.

Tochi, who gained fame through his appearance on Big Brother Nigeria, pointed to the overwhelming support from Nigerian girls as a pivotal factor in Tyla’s success.

Tochi revealed that, in the past year, he consistently observed Nigerian girls showcasing their dance moves to Tyla’s music on social media.

According to him, this extensive online presence and enthusiasm contributed significantly to the song’s popularity, ultimately playing a role in Tyla’s Grammy triumph.

In related news, Nigerian singers faced disappointment at the 66th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles as none of the five nominated artists – Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Baddo, and Ayra Starr – won an award.

Despite the high expectations, the Nigerian artists faced tough competition in their respective categories, ultimately losing out to other artists.

The nominees included Davido and Musa Keys for “Unavailable,” Burna Boy for “City Boys,” Asake and Olamide for “Amapiano,” and Ayra Starr for “Rush.”

In the category of Best African Music Performance, the award was claimed by Tyla, a South African female singer, for the song “Water.”
