They snubbed him – reactions trail moment VP Shettima joined Super Eagles in their dressing room [VIDEO]
  • Mixed reactions have trailed the moment Nigeria’s vice president, Kashmir Shettima and former professional footballer, Kanu Nwanwko joined Super Eagles in the dressing room, following their match last night, Wednesday, February 7.
  • Both were obviously delighted and Kanu was spotted hugging and giving high-fives to the players.
  • Shettima was captured in the middle of the room smiling, and some netizens have alleged he was being snubbed.

Nigerians have reacted to a certain moment where Vice President, Kashim Shettima was captured in the dressing room of Super Eagles players.

He was in Cote d’Ivoire, at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on Wednesday, February 7, to support the Super Eagles at Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2023.

Shettima was first spotted in the stands where he sat beside Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Following Nigeria’s triumph, Shettima joined the Super Eagles’ celebration on the pitch as the players danced.  Nigeria reached the final of the AFCON 2023 tournament after a tense semifinal against South Africa which went the distance.

The West African giants progressed to their first AFCON final since 2013 when they beat Burkina Faso 1-0 thanks to a Sunday Mba strike. That was their third continental crown after wins in 1980 and 1994. Subsequently, Shettima was not left out of the on-field celebrations following Nigeria’s triumph.

However it seems that was where the celebrations ended as when the VP joined the Eagles in their dressing room, no one seemed to pay attention to him as the players carried on with their preparations.

Kanu Nwankwo who was with Shettima did not get the same treatment, as the Eagles exchanged pleasantries excitedly while the VP looked on smiling.
