After the defeat, social media were flooded with negative comments and criticisms targeted at Alex Iwobi, prompting several celebrities to speak out in defense of the player.
Expressing their discontent with the online harassment, these figures urged critics to cease attacking Iwobi and instead show support for the entire team.
