Nigerian skit maker and activist, Mr Macaroni reacts to a video showing Davido’s aide, Lati gruesomely assaulting fans who attempted to approach the singer.
In a viral footage, Davido was seen walking with his crew members while a fan attempted to draw closer to take a selfie but was slapped by Lati. Another video showed the moment Lati also slapped a man who tried to get close to the artist for a handshake.
Expressing his disapproval, Mr. Macaroni condemned the incident, denoting it as dehumanizing. He argued that it was unnecessary to assault fans who simply wished to take pictures with their favourite artist.
Moreover, Mr Macaroni advised fans to seek permission before attempting to take pictures with celebrities. He stressed the importance of mutual respect in interactions between fans and celebrities.
He wrote:
“This is sad and highly condemnable!!! There is no need for this assault. This is dehumanizing and I speak against it because I know exactly how this feels.
The change that we all seek must begin with us!!!”.
“Please, if you must take pictures with any of your favorite celebrities, kindly seek permission so that you are not seen as a threat. Respect is reciprocal.
We must respect the privacy of our celebrities and Celebrities must also learn to treat our fans with respect and dignity”.
