Rema will be the second Nigerian musician to play at the Brits. In 2018, Burna Boy performed at the awards event.
At the 2024 Brit Awards, Burna Boy and Asake were nominated in the star-studded International Artist of the Year category, while Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ was nominated in the coveted International Song of the Year category.
The award ceremony is slated for March 2, 2023, in London.
There hasn’t been a Brit Award winner from Nigeria.
In February 2024, Rema became the first African artist to win Chinese music award.
The singer accomplished the feat as his song ‘Calm Down’ remix with American diva Selena Gomez won Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China.
The award was given by Hit FM in Taiwan and hosted by DJ Andy.
Rema is one of the few foreign musicians to have received the Taiwanese prize, along with American and British performers.
With more than six Grammys, American pop sensation Taylor Swift is among the most renowned international performers at the ceremony.
This remarkable achievement has not only solidified Rema’s position as a rising star but also showcased the global appeal of African music.
In 2023, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ ranked world’s most shazammed song of 2023.
