Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the Nigerian clergyman and General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, has ruffled feathers with his prayer points for his members.
In a widely circulated video clip from the 2021 youth convention of the church, Adeboye was captured leading a powerful prayer.
Referencing the biblical account of how the sons of the prophet bowed before Elisha after he received the double portion of Elijah’s power, Adeboye invoked a similar reverence.
He fervently prayed for Christians from other denominations to humbly bow before members of his congregation,
His words;
“I decree in the name that is above every other name, Christians from other denominations will bow before you”.
The congregation responded with resounding amens.

In response to a blog post discussing the contentious prayer, Actor Emeka Amakaeze expressed dismay.
He lamented that amidst the widespread hardships plaguing the country, the focus of Christians in the video seemed to be on enthusiastically shouting thunderous amens to the Adeboye’s prayer of other Christians bowing before them.
Amakaeze mentioned the pressing issues facing society, such as hunger, kidnappings, and terrorist activities, suggesting that these urgent concerns deserved greater attention and action.
Emeka Amakaeze wrote;
“Upon all the hardship in Naija, Christians are shouting thunderous Amen to other Christians bowing before them.
Hunger, kidnappers and terrorists can finish you as long as other Christians bow before you. O dị mma.”
