My dad co-wrote National Anthem but never got credit – Veteran singer, Eddy Remedy

• Eddy Remedy claims his father, Ashiedu Brown, a retired police officer, was in the Nigeria Police Band that composed the national anthem but all the credits were given to his boss.
• He claimed that his father’s sad experience made him oppose his  musical career because he believed that he would never be rewarded.

Veteran singer Edward Ashiedu Brown, popularly known as Eddy Remedy has revealed that his father was actually a co-writer of the national anthem but never received credit for it.

Eddy Remedy opens up on how his father, had collaborated with others on co-writing the national anthem , only to be left out of the official credits.

He claimed that although his father, former police officer Ashiedu Brown, was a member of the Nigeria Police Band that wrote the national song, all the credit went to the band’s director, Benedict Elise Odiase.

The singer stated that despite his father’s contribution to the national Anthem, he has not received any recognition from the government to date.

He also stated that his father’s experience led him to reject his musical career on the grounds that he thought Nigeria would never recognize or reward him.

In a recent interview with Daddy Freeze, Eddy Remedy said:

“Now I understand why my dad didn’t want me to do music. Because they did the same thing to him. My Dad was among those who wrote the national anthem. But what did he get? Did they give him any recognition? Instead, they gave all the credit to his boss, [Benedict] Odiase, who was the commissioner of Police then,”

In a recent interview with media personality Nedu Wazobia on the Honest Bunch podcast, Eedris delved into several subjects, covering his clash with 50 Cent, his surgery, the story of how he met his former label boss Kenny Ogungbe, the dissolution of his former group, The Remedies, amongst others.

In explaining how he and Eddy Montana met Tony Tetuila, Eedris claimed that after Kenny Ogungbe signed them to Kennis Music, they bumped into Tetuila at a music event. Eedris said Tetuila allegedly pleaded with them to form a trio.

In response, Tony Tetuila posted a video on his social media page showing him berating Eedris Abdulkareem while watching him on TV, and accused Eedris of lying about how he joined The Remedies group.
