“It’s madness for Burna Boy to claim no one paved way for him” – Jaywon

Jaywon challenges Burna Boy's perspective on industry mentors

Nigerian artist Jaywon has voiced his disagreement with fellow musician Burna Boy’s assertion that no one paved the way for him in the music industry.

Jaywon labeled Burna Boy’s claim as absurd and expressed his belief that the African Giant was misconstruing the concept of inspiration.

According to Jaywon, Burna Boy’s statement implies that he never received any inspiration from fellow artists throughout his career.

The “This Year” crooner argued that the distinction between being inspired by someone and having someone pave the way is crucial.

Jaywon questioned where up-and-coming artists would find their inspiration if established figures did not pave the way for them.

The singer recalled a significant moment in Burna Boy’s career when he received a 30BG chain from Afrobeat sensation Davido.

Jaywon pointed out this gesture as a substantial contribution to Burna Boy’s artistic journey, emphasizing that it contradicts Burna Boy’s claim of no industry trailblazers.

Jaywon concluded by asserting that it costs nothing for artists to acknowledge and give credit to those who came before them.
