Davido reacts as Chike pays tribute to Mohbad in ‘Egwu’ visuals

Before the cruel grip of death snatched Mohbad away from us, he left behind a musical masterpiece in collaboration with his colleague Chike. The duo's song soared to unprecedented heights, dominating the airwaves and reigning supreme atop various charts. In a heartfelt gesture, Chike paid homage to Mohbad in the accompanying visuals. Nigerian crooner Chike has just dropped the highly anticipated official video for his chart-topping anthem ‘Egwu,’ featuring the late singer Mohbad.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday for the grand reveal, Chike penned a poignant caption to accompany the unveiling;

“It was difficult, but I am honored to celebrate music and my friend @iammohbad with this visual. #Egwu”.

Originally released in 2023 shortly after the tragic passing of Mohbad, “Egwu” boasts vibrant visuals that kick off with a kaleidoscope of diverse dancers swaying to the infectious beats.

Throughout the video, poignant imagery of Mohbad takes center stage, serving as a touching tribute seamlessly interwoven by Chike.

The narrative evolves as Chike takes the spotlight, delivering a solo performance exuding sheer style and charisma, culminating in a triumphant return to the jubilant dance sequence.

Helmed by the visionary director Pink, the “Egwu” visuals stand as a testament to Chike’s artistic prowess and heartfelt homage to his late collaborator.

Chike started his music journey in 2015 when he participated in Project Fame.

He then proceeded to The Voice of Nigeria, a music show, in 2016, where he became first runner-up. Chike signed with Universal Republic the same year but left the music label in 2017.
