Six arrested over the murder of South African rapper AKA

Six suspects have been arrested over the murder of popular South African rapper, Kiernan Forbes


Authorities in South Africa have confirmed that six individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of popular rapper AKA.

Recall that the 33-year-old musician, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, and his friend were shot and killed in February 2023 outside of a restaurant in the seaside city of Durban.

AKA and his best friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motshoane, were killed at close range by two armed guys while walking to their car.

However, during a press briefing on Tuesday night, KwaZulu-Natal provincial police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi stated that the accused will appear in court on Thursday.

In a viral video, Mkhwanazi, a lieutenant-general, revealed how the culprits were apprehended and their roles in the rapper’s death.

“It was clear that AKA was monitored from the airport and Tibz was not the intended target in the murder on Florida Road in Durban.

“We know they were paid for this”, he said.

After the rapper’s d3ath, CCTV footage was released showing moment Rapper AKA was gunned down .

The CCTV video making rounds on social media shows the moment a gunman walked up to AKA and shot him in the head.

The Rapper and some of his friends were captured leaving Wish restaurants and heading to their vehicles.

A hitman wearing a hoodie then walks up to the group and fires shots, shooting AKA in the back of the head and runs away on foot.

The footage that has been widely shared on social media has fans calling for justice for the rapper.

Many believe this was a planned attack as the hitman shoots and doesn’t take anything from the rapper.
