FunnyBone said I would fade away in 6 months – Comedian, DesTalker

DesTalker opens up on the conversation he overheard his colleague, FunnyBone having about him

comedian, Oghenekowhoyan Onaibe Desmond, popularly known as DesTalker recalls FunnyBone’s prediction about him.

DesTalker claimed that after he won his first ‘Best Comedian’ of the year award, FunnyBone had assured him that he will  fade off in half a year.

The comedian revealed this while appearing as a guest on the most recent episode of Shopsydoo’s Afrobeats podcast, stating that FunnyBone had predicted that he won’t stay long on the spotlight.

DesTalker said:

“After I won my first Best Comedian of the Year award, my colleagues started getting jealous of me. FunnyBone said, ‘What does he feel like? Let’s give him 6 months.’ He didn’t know I was sitting close to him when he said it loud.

Abeg! Six months he will go down.’ Listen, you cannot give time for what God has timed, Let’s give him time, highest one year. No be so Akpororo do? Where is Akpororo today?’

“I said, ‘Okay, let’s see if it’s God’s time or man’s time.’ I won the same award for four consecutive years.”

Few months ago, DesTalker had called out his colleagues, Gordons, Basketmouth and others, stating that they are against him because he doesn’t don’t do ‘fatherism’ .

He voiced his concerns during a candid interview on The Honest Bunch podcast, which is hosted by the well-known media personality Nedu Wazobia and others.

Destalker didn’t hold back as he opened up about how his career progression in the comedy world has been deliberately hindered by some of his senior colleagues due to his outspoken stance against fatherism

He didn’t hesitate to name two prominent comedians, Gordons and Basketmouth, as the primary individuals responsible for obstructing his path to success.

During the interview, Destalker questioned why he, a comedian who has consistently been awarded the title of “Best Comedian” for five years, hasn’t been able to secure sponsors for his shows.

He revealed that despite putting in effort and writing proposals, potential sponsors would often condition their support on his ability to secure the approval of his senior colleagues. This, according to Destalker, has been a major obstacle in his career.
