She serenaded, danced, and glorified his Igbo traditional titles in a truly touching spectacle.


May Edochie, renowned as the first wife of Nollywood sensation Yul Edochie, took center stage to celebrate the birthday of her father-in-law, Pete Edochie, a titan of Nigeria’s cinematic world.

May, who has always had a special place in her father-in-law’s heart, publicly showered the industry elder with accolades, acknowledging the vastness of his greatness and the towering legacy he embodies.

The mother of three was caught on video belting out Stevie Wonder’s classic “Happy Birthday” tune, busting out some dance moves in the process.

Adding an extra layer of cultural reverence to the celebration, she also bestowed upon her father-in-law some significant Igbo titles.

She wrote;

“77 isn’t just a regular celebration; it signifies a celebration of happiness referred to as kiju. 

“Today, we celebrate a great man who is very well-decorated, a father to many, and loved by all. May you continue to age gracefully to the glory of God,”

Earlier today, Nollywood stars also felicitated with veteran actor , Pete Edochie, expressed gratitude to God for his life.

The celebrant, also known as ‘Lion of Africa,’ has taken to his Instagram page @peteedochie to celebrate himself for the gift of life.

Edochie flooded his Instagram page with adorable pictures in different outfits with a warm smile to specially celebrate his 77th birthday with a caption “Ibobo 77.”
