Nigerian rapper Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has taken to social media to caution Nigerians against blindly believing everything they hear and read.
The rapper, who is currently observing fasting, shared excerpts from the Quran on his Twitter account to emphasize his message.
Naira Marley, known for hits like “Tesumole,” addressed the issue amidst ongoing criticism and rumours surrounding him and his close associate, Sam Larry.
Allegations concerning his involvement in the death of his former signee, Mohbad, have surfaced, leading to significant backlash against him.
Reports have circulated suggesting that event centers, show organizers, and media outlets have intentionally ceased playing his music or booking him for performances.
These actions have been attributed to the alleged controversies surrounding Naira Marley and his associates.
In response to these claims, Naira Marley tweeted quotes from the Quran, urging his Nigerians to verify information before accepting it blindly.
He wrote;
“O believers, if an evildoer brings you any news, verify ‘it’ so you do not harm people unknowingly, becoming regretful for what you have done. Quran 49:6 (Al-hujurat).
“Do not follow what you have no ‘sure’ knowledge of. Indeed, all will be called to account for ‘their’ hearing, sight, and intellect. Quran 17:36.
“And do not walk on the earth arrogantly. Surely you can neither crack the earth nor stretch to the height of the mountains. Quran 17:37”.
