How I inspired P-Square, other Nigerian artists – Solidstar
  • Solidstar specifically stated that the remix of the song with 2Baba inspired P-Square’s hit song ‘Possibility’ which featured the same artist.
  • He revealed that when he became famous, many thought he was Ghanaian because of his musical style.

Troubled singer, Joshua Iniyezo, popularly known as Solidstar, claims that he played a significant role in inspiring renowned artists like P-Square and other prominent names in the Nigerian music industry.

He claims that his hit song ‘One In A Million‘ spawned a new tone in Nigerian music.

According to him, due of his distinct musical taste, many people believed he was Ghanaian when he first became famous.

In the recent episode with The Honest Bunch podcast, Solidstar made explicitly explained that P-Square’s popular song “Possibility,” which also featured 2Baba, was influenced by his song’s remix.

He said:

“It was ‘One In A Million’ that paved the way for me in the music industry. I won the Best New Artist at the Nigerian Music Video Awards with the song. Many even thought I was Ghanaian, they didn’t know I’m Nigerian because my style then was different.

“It was my song [‘One In A Million’] that changed the sound of the Nigerian music industry. It was also the inspiration behind P-Square’s ‘Possibility’ featuring 2Baba.

“The song changed the Nigerian music industry. It came with its unique style. I slowed the tempo down and everyone started copying that pattern.”

In another story, Solidstar opens up on how he got introduced to a drug substance that made him wander aimlessly on the streets .

This revelation follows a distressing event in 2023 when a viral video depicted Solid Star wandering the streets in a barefoot and disheveled state.

During this period, his younger brother, Joseph Iniyezo, utilized social media platforms to shed light on Solid Star’s mental health battles, urged for support and assistance from the public.

Solid Star, having overcome his addiction, shared his tumultuous journey with drug substances during a recent interview on the Honest Bunch podcast with media personality Nedu Wazobia, others.

Recalling a pivotal moment in 2001, he revealed how negative influences introduced him to hard drugs, leading to severe mental health issues.

Solid Star vividly described how the substances would dictate his actions, even compelled him to undertake arduous treks across Lagos.
