“I was a cage dancer and did everything to hustle” – Denrele Edun

“I was a cage dancer and did everything to hustle” – Denrele Edun
  • In a recent interview, Denrele Edun revealed that he used to danced for the African Shrine and did everything to hustle.
  • He disclosed that at the time, he was still a student and was a backup dancer for African Shrine and Iroko bands during the weekends.

Media personality Denrele Edun opens up on his tumultuous past, revealing that he went to great lengths to survive and succeed in the entertainment industry.

In a recent interview with Arise News TV, Denrele Edun disclosed that he had worked as a cage dancer.

He claimed to have danced for the African Shrine. At the time, he was still a student and had also worked as a backup dancer for African Shrine on the weekends.

Denrele Edun recalls how he hustled and gave his all to make a name for himself, revealed that he was a dancer with the Iroko band.

Thinking back on his challenges, he claimed that May 21 will mark his third decade in the entertainment industry, having begun his professional career in 1994.

His words:

“I used to dance in the shrine. I used to be in the cage, yes, I used to be one of the cage dancers. I did everything to hustle at that time. And I was still in Unilag at that time. So I was a backup dancer every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the African Shrine and I was a cage dancer. Also, I used to dance for the Iroko band which was headlined by Dr Ola Balogun, one of the pioneers of filmmaking. Come May 21st I will be marking 3 decades in the Entertainment Industry. I started professionally in 1994, on a TV soap opera. My first paycheck was N150”.

In another story, Denrele Edun opened up on a challenging chapter in his life, revealing that he had stroke on half of his face.

In an interview with Channel TV, Denrele explained that the stroke left his left eye closed and caused a noticeable shift in his facial features, leading him to cover the affected side with his unique and extravagant hairstyles.

The media personality shared his ordeal, recounting how the stroke impacted various aspects of his health.

Denrele revealed that the stroke not only affected his facial appearance but also led to difficulties in breathing and impaired vision due to the automatic closure of his left eye.

Additionally, he disclosed that his right leg experienced numbness during this challenging period, and he lost hair on the front side of his head.
