Davido reacts to claims of arrest in Kenya

Davido debunked the rumours stating that he's already in Nigeria

Afrobeats star, Davido has vehemently denied claims suggesting his arrest in Kenya.

The singer recently inaugurated a music and arts institution at the International University of East Africa in Uganda.

Additionally, he graced the stage at the Raha Fest in Nairobi, Kenya, captivating audiences with his musical prowess.

In the aftermath of his performance, unfounded reports began circulating, alleging his apprehension by the anti-narcotics police unit on charges of drug possession.

Dismissing these claims with fervour, the singer via his Instagram handle, rebuffed the rumours, labelling them as “false.”

He staunchly asserted that he had never been arrested before and decried the dissemination of such baseless rumours as “irresponsible,” even if it was intended as an “April Fool’s joke.”

Moreover, Davido vowed to pursue legal recourse against the media entities responsible for propagating the misinformation.

His statement read:

“SETTING RECORD STRAIGHT ON FALSE ARREST REPORTS

Fam, it has come to my attention that false reports regarding an arrest circulated online on April 1st, which has since led to a barrage of calls. I want to assure my fans that these reports are entirely untrue. I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned home to Nigeria.

I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I’ve made home throughout my career.

I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation.

Thank you for your continued support. Our blessings are from God. I love you all.
Sincerely,

Davido.”
