- Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, April 5th reserved the judgment of convicted controversial crossdresser Bobrisky till April 9, 2024.
- The judge also ordered that he should be returned to EFCC’s custody pending the judgment.
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday, April 5 scheduled the sentencing of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky for April 9.
The controversial crossdresser was convicted for abuse of the Naira.
Trial judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro convicted the defendant following his guilty plea to the charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court reserved till April 9, to sentence the convict and ordered that he be remanded in custody of the EFCC.
EFCC had on Thursday, filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky, but he was arranged Friday.
According to the charge, counts one to four borders on alleged tampering with Naira notes, while counts five and six borders on money laundering.
When the case was called, the prosecutor, Mr. Suleiman Suleiman told the court that following a discussion, the defendant had agreed to plead guilty to the charge.
He made an oral application for counts five and six to be struck out, leaving counts one to four.
The court consequently struck out counts five and six.
When the remaining counts were read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty to them.
Still on court cases, a magistrate court in Abuja has issued criminal summons on 5 persons for defaming Gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo.
Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, the husband of Minister Mercy Chinwo filed Direct Criminal Complaint against the individuals for Criminal Defamation via falsehood, cyber bullying and cyberstalking.
