“Forgive me and I would serve your God” — Man who defamed Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo pleads

Following the revelation of Mercy Chinwo's newborn son with her husband, speculation arose about the child's paternity, suggesting Nathaniel Bassey as the father. Both gospel singers swiftly addressed these rumors with strong legal action. Consequently, the man involved in spreading these allegations felt the heat of the law and earnestly sought forgiveness

A Facebook user named Agozi Commedy has publicly apologized to well-known Nigerian gospel singers Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo following allegations of defamation of character.

Recall that Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo had filed a petition with the police against individuals who spread rumors alleging that Mercy and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa’s son, Charis, was fathered by Nathaniel Bassey.

In response to the petition, Agonzi issued a public apology for his statement. He added that he was not ashamed to eat his words publicly because those who encouraged him to tarnish the singers’ names were the same people who encouraged social commentator Verydarkman to make controversial statements that landed him in a police cell for nine days.

He affirmed his commitment to serving their God and pledged to continue apologizing until he is forgiven.

Below is an excerpt from Agonzi’s apology message on his Facebook page:

Apology message from Agozi commedy to Nathaniel Bassey -Official Mercy Chinwo. I’m very sorry for what have been said by me through a video circulating, I am very sorry. It is never an act to deliberately bring you down and your ministry. I was deceived by what people said online.

And everything that was said about you guys was false and not real. And I refuse to allow my pride to take over me. I am very sorry and all I ask is your forgiveness please sir/ma.
