Oba Elegushi reacts to fresh claims of him fathering late Mohbad’s child, Liam
  • The bombshell revelation of Oba Elegushi possibly being the father of the late singer Mohbad’s son has triggered a vehement response from the Lagos Monarch, intensifying the already tumultuous atmosphere online.
  • TikToker, Oloriebimusicproduction2 has sparked a storm of controversy with a series of posts on his TikTok page, squarely pointing the finger at Oba Elegushi in the paternity saga involving Liam and the tragic demise of Mohbad

Amidst the escalating controversy swirling around the tragic passing of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, and the swirling questions regarding the paternity of his son, Liam Aloba, the Elegushi of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State, Oba Saheed Elegushi, has firmly rebuffed the swirling rumors implicating him as the father of the deceased singer’s child.

Mohbad tragically died at the tender age of 27 in September 2023, sending shockwaves across the nation and igniting widespread protests in certain regions. His passing prompted an outpouring of grief from devoted fans, who rallied behind the banner of justice for the former Marlian Records signee.

In the wake of his untimely demise, a storm of accusations and counter-accusations has erupted, with many pointing fingers at his former boss, Azeez Fashola, famously known as Naira Marley, and his associates, alleging that Mohbad fell victim to bullying and mistreatment, ultimately leading to his demise.

Amidst the uproar surrounding the paternity dispute, one shocking allegation emerged, suggesting that Oba Elegushi could potentially be the father of Mohbad’s son.

A TikToker known as Oloriebimusicproduction2 took to his TikTok platform and made a series of posts. In these posts, the TikToker levied serious accusations, insinuating that the monarch might have played a role in the tragic demise of the late Mohbad.

The TikToker, in viral video, suggested that the monarch had been using his authority to impede the pursuit of justice for the deceased singer.

In response to these myriad allegations, the monarch issued a statement through his media consultant, Deyemi Saka, which was obtained by PUNCH Metro on Thursday.

In the statement, the monarch denounced the insinuations made by certain social media users, labeling them as a desperate ploy to besmirch his reputation by entangling him in the paternity dispute surrounding Liam, the late singer’s son.

Oba Elegushi revealed that a formal petition has been lodged against individuals disseminating these allegations.

“We would like to respond to a new desperate attempt at dragging His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Elegushi, into the needless paternity dispute over the son of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

“The widely syndicated falsehood was promoted by some persons with the underlisted profile on the social media app TikTok, namely: Oloriebimusicproduction2, PEKINS RULES, and WESTO4LIVE. Also, the same falsehood is being promoted by Auto Success Ola, Olubukola Jesse, Teni Ologo, and Tolani Ilesanmi.

“This is to inform the public that the allegation is false and a figment of the wicked imaginations of these persons.

“HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, through his lawyers, has filed a petition against these persons with the Nigeria Police and other relevant security agencies in a bid to enforce his fundamental human rights and protect him from cyber bullies, while he is hopeful the Nigeria Police will collaborate with relevant international security organisations in this quest for redress.”

In extending his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late singer, Oba Elegushi earnestly appealed to the public, urging them not to involve the traditional institution in the paternity dispute.

“It must be stated emphatically that Oba Elegushi, just like many Nigerians, is saddened by the sudden demise of Mohbad, and demands a thorough investigation and a quick dispensation of justice.

“While we pray to Almighty God to grant the Alobas the immense strength to bear this painful loss, we urge people to refrain from dragging the integrity of His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Elegushi and the revered traditional institution he represents into public disrepute,” the statement noted.
