Nigerian Activist, Fawaz Alabi, drowns at Ibeshe beach in Lagos

The recent spate of boat accidents, claiming the lives of Junior Pope, members of the Nollywood crew, and now Fawaz Alabi meeting his watery end, has sent shockwaves through communities, serving as a wake-up call to tread carefully around water. These incidents are stark reminders that when navigating beaches, rivers, preparedness and safety precautions are non-negotiable. They're driving home the point that water, though essential for survival, demands our caution, as its depths hold both life and death.

The Nigerian activist community is reeling from a tragic incident involving the untimely demise of Fawaz Alabi, a prominent youth activist.

His lifeless body was discovered at Ibeshe beach in Lagos State, sending shockwaves throughout social media channels.

The distressing news was initially shared by @SKOOLB01, a Twitter user, on April 13th.

The X user wrote;

“omo @lengdrxx body was found on the shores of lbeshe beach. He’s been missing since Salah day. He was a very good friend, vocal leader, original Lagos boy. May Allah forgive all his shortcomings”

Reports suggest that Fawaz had been missing since the conclusion of the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations and was later found washed ashore at the beach.

According to the post, he had been present at Ibeshe beach on Eid day, but the circumstances leading to his disappearance and eventual drowning remain shrouded in mystery.

Efforts to obtain additional details are currently underway, with attempts being made to contact individuals who were in the company of Fawaz at the beach, although these efforts have been fruitless thus far.

The post added, “He was at Ibeshe beach on Eid day. We’re still trying to get more info. But we were told his body has been identified. We’re trying to reach those that they went together but they’ve been unreachable.”
