Davido dissolves DMW record label, reveals fate of Peruzzi, other signed artists

With each note sung and every business move plotted, singers-turned-label-bosses redefine the very essence of artistic and entrepreneurial evolution, they amplify not only their own voices but also those of the artists they champion. Davido is a prime example of such maestros-turned-moguls, who is ascending to fresh global heights as evidenced by his bold decision to disband his former label, DMW, and address the futures of his signed acts.

In a groundbreaking move, Nigerian music powerhouse David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has forged an electrifying partnership with UnitedMasters to unleash his new label, Nine+ Records, onto the scene.

Under the terms of this game-changing agreement, Davido assumes the helm of artist development and A&R duties, charting a course for a handpicked roster of Nigerian talents poised to redefine the musical landscape.

Consequently, his former record label, Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, has now been dissolved.

On his X handle on Saturday, the OBO Crooner disclosed that all the artists currently signed to DMW will move to Nine+.

Some of the artists currently signed to DMW include Dremo, Yonda, Peruzzi, Idowest from Lagos Island, DJ Ecool, Danagog, B-Red, Deekay, May D, Deinde, Ayanfe, Liya, Morravey, SayTheyCallMESG and Logos Olori.

UnitedMasters is owned by David Stout and a new player on the African music scene with a focus on artist development, A&R, artist signing and behind-the-scene matters.

At the unveiling, Steve Stoute, founder and CEO of UnitedMasters, said;

Over the last 2 years, we’ve proven our commitment to Africa investing in artists, education, and technology. Today, we are doubling down. With this new venture with Davido & the launch of Nine Plus Records, we reinforce our mission in becoming a bridge for artists on the continent. Together we’ll identify & develop new artists while supporting them with brand and synch opportunities.”

Davido added, “I couldn’t be more proud to partner with Steve and the team at United Masters, this announcement represents an exciting new chapter for developing and established artists around the world.”
