Music producer Napji has taken to social media to call out renowned afrobeats singer, Davido over alleged unpaid royalties for his work on three tracks from Davido’s 2020 album, “A Better Time“.
Napji claims to have produced the songs “Fem“, “Jowo“, and “Sunlight” but has yet to receive the necessary compensation for his contributions.
According to Napji, he received an advance payment of 500,000 naira for each song, but is still awaiting the remaining royalties and publishing fees.
In a statement posted on his X handle, Napji announced his intention to share more details about the situation as he seeks to collect his due payments.
“I am Napji, producer behind Fem, Jowo and Sunlight on @davido album (A better time).Which was released 13th November 2020.
“I was paid an advance of 500 thousand naira for each of the songs. I will be releasing more information as I seek to collect my royalties & publishing” he wrote
As of now, Davido has remained silent on the matter.
Similarly, Terry G had few weeks ago , called out Timaya over unpaid royalties.
The “Akpako Master” singer did not mince his words as he expressed his frustration and disappointment with the situation.
In a recent social media post, Terry G revealed that he has been contemplating speaking out on the matter, particularly after listening to podcasts where artists disclose their experiences with unpaid royalties.
He emphasized that the day he decides to share his opinions, the metaphorical “table will be used for firewood,” implying that he intends to bring the issue to light in a bold and forceful manner.
Terry G made it clear that he is seeking his rightful 50% producer publishing royalties from Timaya and other artists.
The veteran singer and producer lamented the treatment he has allegedly received from fellow producers, using himself as an example of how greatness is exploited and then discarded.
