Veteran actor Pa Zulu Adigwe reportedly passes on
  • Pa Zulu Adigwe has reportedly passed on.
  • The veteran actor is said to have died on Tuesday evening, April 23.
  • The cause of his death is unknown but some sources claim he had been battling an undisclosed illness.

Nollywood actor, Pa Zulu Adigwe has been reported to have died on Tuesday evening, April 23rd, 2024.

The news of his demise was made known by Movie producer, Stanley Nwoke aka Stanley Ontop via his Instagram page. He announced the demise of the actor and revealed that the cause of his death is yet to be made known. Stanley wrote:

“I regret to announce the passing on a veteran actor.
Late Mr Zulu Adigwe

What caused his death yet to be reviewed.
Rest in peace Good actor”.

However, unconfirmed reports say the actor had been battling with an undisclosed illness.

Adigwe’s interest in acting started when he was seven. His earliest appearance on Nigerian television was in Baci and Company where he played the lead character Mr. B, replacing former actor Albert Egbe who left the series after a dispute with the show’s creator Ken Saro-Wiwa.

Adigwe also performed Basi and Company‘s new theme song, and an album coinciding with the series – Mr. B Makes His Millions – was released under Polygram Nigeria in 1990.

In 1991, Adigwe was among the original cast of Checkmate, playing lecherous university lecturer Monday Edem in the pilot episode, but the role was recast after production moved from Enugu to Lagos.

His first movie was Blood of the Orphan, which earned him acclamation and recognition. In 2004, he also starred in Living Abroad, directed by Elvis Chuks and also starring Ernest Asuzu, Emeka Enyiocha, and Anne Njemanze. In 2019, Adigwe featured as Pascal Nworie in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.

Adigwe’s death would add to the list of actors who have passed on. Within the past four months, Nollywood has lost 6 of its own. From Sisi Quadri to Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Andy Best, Jumoke Aderounmu, and, Junior Pope.

Two weeks ago, Junior Pope had died after drowning while returning from a movie location with his colleagues in a boat at Anam River in Anambra State.

A day before his demise, actress Jumoke Aderounmu, who was a cast in Funke Akindele’s TV series, Jenifa Dairy, had died at the age of 40.

On March 24th, veteran actor, Amaechi Muonagor, who had been battling kidney for almost a year gave up the ghost.

A week before his death, Nollywood producer and marketer, Ikechukwu Nnadi better known as Andy Best had passed on after a prolonged ailment at a private clinic in Owerri, Imo State.

In February, Yoruba actor, Sisi Quadri passed away after he was rushed to the hospital in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State, after suffering persistent hiccups which were reportedly caused by kidney-related issues. The actor was laid to rest, a day later, in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State.

As Sisi Quadri was been laid to rest, Veteran actor, Mr Ibu gave up the ghost at Evercare Hospital. The actor who had been battling for his life for months, died following a cardiac arrest. His death threw the industry into mourning as he was the beloved of many and had made our childhood memorable.
