- After an extensive period of anticipation, the results of the toxicology tests conducted on the late singer Mohbad’s exhumed body are now at last ready to contribute to the ongoing investigation into his untimely demise.
- Since the exhumation of the singer’s remains on September 21, 2023, there has been a prolonged wait for breakthroughs in unraveling the circumstances surrounding his death
The comprehensive toxicology tests aimed at unraveling the mystery behind the untimely passing of the renowned Nigerian music sensation, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, have been completed, with results now forwarded to the Lagos State police.
The tests, meticulously conducted in the United States, are poised to offer invaluable insights into the circumstances shrouding the premature passing of the esteemed singer.
Oluwaseun Akinde, the legal representative from Lagos State, revealed to the coroner’s court in Ikorodu last November that while the external autopsy had been completed, the crucial toxicology analysis, delving into internal factors, was still pending at that time.
However, a state government official who knows the matter told PUNCH that the test results were delivered to the state DNA and Forensic Centre last week.
The official, who spoke anonymously because he was not permitted to talk about the subject, added that the test results were delivered to the police earlier this week.
“The toxicology test is ready and given to the police. We projected 10 weeks from the outset but it came in before then. It was received by the DNA and Forensic Centre last week and has been sent to the police,” the source said
Mohbad died at the age of 27, on September 12, 2023, with circumstances surrounding his death sparking controversies on social media.
A former record label signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad left the label in February 2022.
The Lagos State Police Command had, on September 18, 2023, inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the singer’s death.
His death also led to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, among others.
The singer’s body was on September 21, 2023, exhumed for autopsy
