Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has explained why she prostrated to greet Ibrahim Egungbohun Dende, aka IBD Dende, on a plane.
Recall that Teni recently found herself in the midst of controversy after sharing a video of herself prostrating to greet the businessman and socialite.
The video had sparked backlash, with many criticizing Teni for associating with IBD Dende due to unproven allegations against him, for smuggling.
In response to the criticism, Teni took to social media to clear the air.
She revealed that she had no knowledge of any criminal activities involving IBD Dende, stating that she was only expressing her gratitude for his kindness towards her in 2014, before she gained fame.
Teni emphasized that she holds him in high esteem due to their past encounter.
She clarified that she does not condone criminal behavior and trusts in the law to take its course.
In her words:
“I Met IBD [Dende] in 2014 and he was so good to me, even before I blew up. So when[ever] I see him, it’s always love.
“I honestly had no knowledge of any criminal activities associated with him. I do not support criminals, so let the law take its course.”
In another story, Teni lambasts man who commented about her being unmarried.
The exhange ensued when a man, identified as @ade_diran_, reacted to one of Teni’s tweets, suggesting that she should be in her husband’s house by now.
He remarked, “You suppose don day husband house like this ooo time day go”
Unwilling to let the comment slide, Teni swiftly responded, suggesting that the man’s mother remarries to lift them out of poverty.
She retorted, “Tell your mother to marry a wealthy person and rescue your family from poverty.”
