My husband gave me the idea for ‘Men Are Crazy’ – Simi

Simi Reveals the Inspiration Behind 'Men Are Crazy'

Popular Nigerian singer Simi shared the surprising origin of her latest hit song, ‘Men Are Crazy’, featuring Tiwa Savage.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, with some male social media users criticizing the song, Simi revealed that her husband, Adekunle Gold, was behind the idea.

According to Simi, her husband, Adekunle Gold had asked her to create a song saying that men are crazy but still want one in her bed.

She stated that initially, she had completed two verses, but something felt missing. That’s when she thought of Tiwa Savage, aiming to find a balance and merge their styles.

In a recent appearance on Angela Yee’s podcast, ‘Way Up’, Simi said:

My husband gave me the idea for my song, ‘Men Are Crazy’. He was like, ‘Babe, how about we do a song and you say men are crazy but I still want one in my bed?’

“I was like, ‘Oh yeah, no one is going to see that coming from me. So I made that song. I had actually finished the song, I did two verses but I felt something was missing. It just hit me and I was like, ‘I will love to have Tiwa on the song.’ We [our music] don’t generally go in the same direction but I was like, it would be so nice to find that balance and do something that would bring our synergies together. So I sent it to Tiwa and she did her verse and we shot the video together.”

Simi also addressed Brymo, Samklef’s flirtatious comments about her.

The mother of one said she is confused about their rhetoric and considers their actions as comedy.

In Simi’s words:

“I don’t know what these people [Brymo and Samklef] are going on about. The funny thing is that these are two different people and I don’t know why they keep talking about me like that. When you even look at what they’re saying, you can’t even pick out anything. I’m still confused.

“I just feel like it doesn’t matter to me. It doesn’t change anything. My husband is speaking out for me, he is fighting for his woman as he would. I don’t feel anything about this. It doesn’t impact me. I don’t have anything to hide. If you’re going to post that you asked me out and so what? Or that I had an ex [laughs]. The whole thing to me, is more comedy than anything else.”
