- Rumors are swirling rapidly about certain individuals illicitly embalming the singer’s body while investigations into the cause of his death are underway.
- Prompt police action has swiftly addressed these circulating reports, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.
The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force is intensifying its inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the demise of the acclaimed singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The investigation was sparked by the summoning of Mohbad’s family and the individuals implicated in the ongoing investigation regarding the illegal embalming of the deceased’s remains following his death.
Earlier, Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha, who acted as Mohbad’s Personal Assistant, underwent questioning at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in the company of the deceased’s parents, Joseph and Abosede.
Subsequent to Darosha’s interrogation, law enforcement authorities have requested the appearance of all individuals implicated in his statement for additional questioning.
Monisola Odumosu, leading the family’s legal team, verified that the subsequent round of questioning occurred on Tuesday at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos State.
According to Odumosu, the police were working to reveal the identity of the “illegal mortician.”
He added: “The police will reveal to the public soon, who illegally embalmed the body of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
“The police stated they would work on their report and continue investigations which will be directed to the Legal Department of the force for a recommendation.
“The meeting was held at Zone 2 and present at the meeting were Mr. Joseph Aloba (Mohbad’s father), Boluwatife Adeyemi (aka Darosha), Adura Aloba (Mohbad’s younger brother), Mrs. Abosede Olumuyi (Mohbad’s mother) and Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba (Mohbad’s wife). Others include Iya Lolade and Samuel (Mr. Joseph Aloba’s witnesses) and lawyers to the parties”
The family’s legal representatives had formally lodged a petition with the police, as directed by their clients, asserting that Boluwatife Adeyemo, the personal assistant to the late Mohbad, had engaged in the unlawful embalming of the singer’s body.
This action contravenes Sections 16 and 48 of the Coroner’s System Law, 2007, which outline the repercussions and penalties for tampering with a deceased body.
Following Darosha’s interrogation, the police have instructed that all individuals referenced in his statement appear for further questioning.
