Governor Sanwo-Olu hosts British royal couple, Prince Harry and Meghan in Lagos

Recently, the British power couple made a groundbreaking visit to Lagos, teaming up with the government to confront the city's most pressing challenges, and sending Governor Sanwo-Olu into ecstatic delirium. His Excellency was utterly thrilled to host the dynamic pair, and their visit was the crowning glory for the people of Lagos


Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday recently played host to Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Lagos where they are attending various activities, including raising funds for wounded soldiers.

Arriving in Lagos on Sunday, the British Royal couple concluded the final leg of their three-day visit to Nigeria. Since their arrival on Friday, Prince Harry and Meghan have actively participated in various events in Abuja and Kaduna.

Speaking to the press during their welcome at the State House in Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Prince Harry and Meghan for their impactful work with Nigeria’s military personnel, particularly in addressing mental health issues.

The governor also urged the couple to visit Lagos again, adding that he prays Meghan’s descent is of the Yoruba tribe.

Sharing photos of their visit, Governor Sanwo-olu captioned his Instagram post;

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and share the vibrant culture of Lagos with our esteemed guests

“They are on a visit to Nigeria promoting the Invictus Games, a special initiative aimed at raising funds and supporting serving military members as well as veterans to overcome their physical and mental illnesses or injuries, which would help them develop a sense of belonging and increased self esteem.

“We discussed the pivotal role mental health plays in holistic wellness, particularly for our military personnel. I commend the Duke and Duchess for spotlighting this crucial issue. Their commitment to supporting our heroes in uniform is truly inspiring.

“We also discussed the amazing work they are doing with the Invictus Games and the valuable global insights that will be beneficial for us. Were excited about the potential collaborations that could help our veterans and active military members feel more supported.

“Looking forward to potential opportunities to host the Invictus Games in Nigeria and to showcase the resilience and spirit of our people.”
