I cried when Olamide left my record label – ID Cabasa (VIDEO)

ID Cabasa and Olamide Bado's partnership was a fiery fusion, a creative explosion that lit up the music scene like a wildfire. Their collaborations were pure magic, with Bado's razor-sharp flows and Cabasa's beats that banged like a pure dynamite. But, like a ticking time bomb, their split was inevitable. When Bado dropped the bombshell, Cabasa was left reeling, his heart shattered like glass. He confessed to shedding tears and wrestling with the brutal reality of parting ways with his protégé, a talent he had groomed and mentored like a father. Little did he know, Bado would go on to build a music empire, a dynasty that would spawn a new generation of superstars and leave a lasting legacy.

I cried when Olamide left my record label – ID Cabasa (VIDEO)
  • In a recent interview, music executive ID Cabasa opened up about the emotional toll he experienced when Olamide revealed his intention to leave his record label.
  • The day they parted ways was particularly heart-wrenching for Cabasa, who confessed that he cried, overwhelmed by the emotional bond they had built over the years.

Veteran record producer and music executive, Olumide Ogunade, better known as ID Cabasa, recently bared his soul about the emotional storm he weathered when his former protégé, Olamide, made the shocking decision to part ways with his record label, Coded Tunes.

During his appearance on the ‘Afrobeats Podcast,’ Cabasa nostalgically reminisced about the poignant moment when tears welled up as Olamide bid farewell.

He mentioned that he made a sincere effort to convince Olamide to stay, yet ultimately granted his blessings when Olamide remained steadfast in his decision to depart.

His words;

“Olamide was 13 years old when I met him. He came to my studio with a friend who wanted to feature him on a song. His friend was not good musically. Olamide was quiet and unassuming. I gave him a beat, and he did 16 bars that changed everything. Olamide became more like a son to me.

“When he was about to leave my record label, we sat down to discuss it. It was painful to me. It wasn’t the pain of not wanting him to progress; it was the pain of seeing someone you love leave. I cried.

“I said, ‘Olamide, you should’ve waited o!’ He said, ‘Bros, I want to do something, and I’m sure, by your code, we might not be able to do some of them.’ We didn’t have a fight. I gave him my full blessings.”
