Renowned Nigerian actor John Paul Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr Pope, is being laid to rest, and the initial wave of photos and videos from the somber event has hit social media, stirring up an emotional response from fans and well-wishers alike.

The emotional scenes unfolding at the burial, which is being held in his hometown of Ukehe, in the Nsukka area of Igboetiti LGA, Enugu State, have left many in tears.

One of the images shared captures a deeply emotional moment as Jnr Pope’s eldest son displays a heart-wrenching expression. A family member stands by, gently fanning his face in an attempt to provide some comfort amidst the overwhelming grief.

Videos capturing the funeral service of the late actor at St. Peter’s Catholic Church offer a sad glimpse into the sorrowful proceedings.

In one emotional scene, the priest, accompanied by family members, surrounds the coffin to sanctify it before it’s brought into the church, symbolically entrusting the actor’s soul to God’s hands.

The atmosphere inside the church is heavy with grief as Jnr Pope’s wife and children, along with his colleagues such as Ruby Orjiakor and Linc Edochie, gather to bid their final farewell. Among the most poignant moments is Ruby Orjiakor, her face streaked with tears, visibly shaken by the loss of her friend.

His family had earlier revealed that he would be laid to rest on May 17 in his Uwala Abaka, Ukehe hometown, in Nsukka, Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
