Big Brother Naija star Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, popularly known as Doyin, has expressed her disapproval of women relying solely on their spouses for financial stability.

In the latest episode of her podcast, “Doyin’s Corner,” she emphasized the risks of being a full-time housewife without financial autonomy.

Expressing her disapproval, she mentioned that she believes it is not wise for married women to solely rely on their spouses for financial support.

She firmly stated that she would never choose to be a full-time housewife, even if she were married to the richest man.

In her words:

One of the riskiest things you can do is get married and want to be a full housewife and completely depend on your husband without any savings.

“I don’t support that anyone should be a full housewife. I think it is too risky. It can also lead to unnecessary insults and disrespect. I will never be a full-time housewife, even if I am married to the wealthiest man. At least I will have a business.”

In another episode of her podcast, Doyin advised against dating broke men.

Just a day after her previous remarks on the subject, Doyin took to Snapchat to reiterate her stance, cautioning young women against entering relationships with men who are not financially stable.

She argued that such men, when they eventually achieve financial success, may come to realize that their partners are not truly compatible with them.

Encouraging women to opt for men who are already financially established, Doyin emphasized the importance of choosing a partner who would likely remain committed through thick and thin.

In a somewhat controversial twist, Doyin also criticized men who are comfortable accepting financial support without reciprocating.

She labeled such behaviour as indicative of a lack of masculinity and even went as far as to suggest that women in such relationships are essentially in a “lesbian relationship.”
